Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Amendment (Protection from Torture and Slavery) Bill 2023

On August 17th, 2023, David Introduced into Victorian Parliament one of the most revolutionary Private Members Bills that the Parliament has seen. 

The Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Amendment (Protection from Torture and Slavery) Bill 2023  amends the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 to provide for the protection of certain non-derogable rights, to repeal the power of Parliament to override the Charter, to consequentially amend the Subordinate Legislation Act 1994 for these same protections and for other purposes.
